Testosterone poisoning is the only possible explanation. They get asked a question, their ego causes an adrenaline rush, and the adrenaline kicks the testosterone production into "Mt. Ste. Helens" explosion levels.

Such a dangerous level of testosterone then causes the brain cells in charge of diplomacy to short-circuit like a cheap hair dryer tossed into the bathtub. With those cells dead and unable to control brain and/or jaw muscle functions, the mouth goes into overdrive.

And bingo, out pops a smart aleck answer.

Yep, definitely testosterone poisoning. Ain't science great? ;-)

Males are supposed to dominate females (I mean this in a purely mammalian sense, please don't be offended), maybe making a smart ars' comment is the only way he knows how to better you?
In general, guys do not like competing with women, _especially_ if a woman beats them. And __especially__ if it's because she's smarter than he is.
He's trying to show you that you're 'stupid and moody' .. it's just male behaviour. By putting you down, he builds himself up. It's dumb, but it's normal.
I always find it amusing when you ask a simple question, they make a sarcastic remark, and you counter their remark with one laced with even more sarcasm, and they get offended and call you names ...
Men are different, with different brains. They're a little more primal than we are.
Luckily, you should have enough smarts and patience to deal with him, or at least ignore him. Or, you could tell him that what he does is childish and offensive, and ask him why he treats you that way. He is your husband for gosh sake, he's suppoesd to love and respect you.

Some people are like that, and they think that they are the smart ones, but really, they need a lot of help, in many ways. Good luck to you.

Because they are egotistical a holes! I live with one too! He got on my nerves quite a bit today!
And they tell us WE have PMS??????? LOL
Anyhow, just try to ignore it, I know it's hard to, cause it is SO easy to want to lash back at him.
I usually use the silent treatment and he WONDERS why?? It makes him think what he did wrong. And there is no arguing that way.
Good luck! I bet we have lots in common !!
