She is an active member on this yahoo! answers site. I think she has gotten a little too obsessed, because she is now calling certain people on here her "friends". Anyone she has on her watch list, and anyone is continually answers their question, and who answer hers.

She has just told me that one of her "friends" is in the top 10 for points on this thing. And that person also answers some of her other "friends" questions. Which she says makes her feel like she's in the "in-group".

Well I am one of her 'friends', and yes, we all know the diff between real life and our cyber pals. I think I would love her just as much in person.
((P.S. *I* am not pathetically lonely in the real world))

Aww. Sounds like your Mom is a little lonely. Yahoo answers is harmless. If she wants to call other members her friends, I think that's o.k. so long as she doesn't try to establish face to face meetings with them. That could get dangerous. Does your mom have other friends she hangs out with? How old is she? I think it's kinda sweet and she'll be fine.

Yeah, I find it fun to check things out on here once in a while but I don't even want to get to know anyone on here personally. I have a life! She is definately obsessed with this. She sounds kind of creepy.

I don't think your mum is losing it I believe that there must be something missing from her life that she is feeling safer and more secure interacting with people she doesn't know perhaps you need to ask her about her experiences with people who she knows personally to try and gain a better understanding of what is happening for your mum

I think she's just having fun. It can be really addictive, as you probably know. You do have a lot of points yourself. There is nothing wrong with Mums having some fun.

No, she just found something she is really into. It seems harmless. I wouldn't worry to much. We all love this site so it is hard to leave sometimes. It is very easy to get addicted to things. She could be doing worse. Sam

This may not be the most unbiased place to ask that:)
I don't think your mom is being unreasonable, unless she's neglecting real life relationships for her yahoo friends. If that's the case, it may be time for an intervention.

no your mom is not totally lost it, she wants to help others, and this is a very good place to do it, she sounds like a good mom, and some people on here, you would consider your friends, because you actually know where they are coming from, so you can help them better then most.........

She sounds like she needs a "real-world" friend, why don't you spend a little more time with her and a little less time on bad-mouthing her on yahoo.
