What if my idea really is original and I submit it to a company like www.davison54.com and they decide steal my idea and tells me that "We have investigated your idea, but someone else has already invented it", even if no one has and then they turn around and trues to sell that idea to a company or whatever they do with a new invention idea? I have an idea for an invention, but I don't know what to do next.

You need to talk to an intellectual property attorney to get your idea patented. On average, this takes about 2-3 years and will cost you several thousand dollars.

If you want more info, go to the US Patent and Trademark Office website (www.uspto.gov, I think) and do some reading on how to get a patent.

In the meantime, don't share your idea with anybody. Document your idea (i.e. drawings, sketches, descriptions, etc.), date all the pages, and get it notarized. If someone steals your idea, this will serve to prove that you came up with it at a particular point in time.

Good luck.

If you have an invention idea, first you must develop your idea to a prototype state. Simply having an idea and inventing something is two different things.

Once you have proved to yourself that the idea is realistic and has potential to market, patent your idea/invention. Patents do cost some money, and for this reason you probably want to make sure you actually have something worth patenting.

By patenting your invention, you are protecting your idea and potential future investment from a direct design copy. However there have been cases where there are similar products that share common attributes and are considered different enough that it's not a copy from someone else's plans. People likely have been scammed by large companies stealing ideas because inventors forgot to patent their idea before showcasing to the world.

In summary, patent good inventions and hopefully it all works out. For further information on patenting designs, just search the internet or phone directory, and there are plenty of methods of protecting your plans.

write a letter to the president and inform him that you have an idea for an invention, then get your invention patented. I think you have to get the patent from the president. I really don't know how to get a patent, but if you look it up on the internet or something, I'm sure that you can find out how to get one. Once you get your invention patented, no one can steal it and claim that it is thiers.

In Aus we have an inventors assoc. They are honour bound not to run off with peoples ideas who approach them. They give advice etc on how to go about the patent.
In Aus we have a provisional/research patent. This is broad in what it covers, cheaper but temporary. Plenty of inventers on sell their ideas via this.
Do you have something similiar wherre you are at?

I agree with The Terminator, but there's one other important detail. If your idea is a mechanical device (something physical), then you need a working model of it for your patent. If it's something very large, you can build a scale model that shows off your invention.

automatic Tattoo Artist robotic... strap it on your arm and have the layout on a working laptop or computing gadget... have inkwells and a printer like gadget with a needle that would pass no longer purely decrease to and fro yet on a z axis besides. As we are asserting x is decrease to and fro... y is up and down, which that is going to do because it works like a sewing needle... and z will enable it to pass on a sq. airplane. i like this concept by way of fact there are soooo many the thank you to describe it, protection useful aspects (sparkling needles, some form of blood cleanup mechanism...) aspects (mechanical and computing gadget) incredibly copywritten for all of you cheaters available... Xhibit already did the coffee in automobile theory regrettably on pimp my holiday. Wait... do you're able to make a prototype for this venture? reason you will could be a splash particular.
