Adjectives that precede nouns in French are ones that express beauty, age, goodness, or size. If interessant is one of goodness, it preceded the noun, but usually follows:
un film interessant.

Usually the adjective goes after the noun. "C'est un film interessant", not "c'est un interessant film." However, sometimes it is not grammatically incorrect, only unusual, to place the adjective first, to highlight it. For example, you can say "c'etait une tres interessante conversation" instead of "c'etait une conversation tres interessante." Beware though, if not sure, adjective follows noun.
