About ten bucks an hour. However, there are other factors to consider. There maybe other things that you can give besides money. If it is a teen that is watching your child, you could barter tutoring services. I have four children who rarely are watched by our sitter, and we give her a flat rate of $10.00 per hour plus bonus' for not sitting our children in front of the tube. She does arts and crafts with our children, doesn't talk on the phone, and is an all around member of our family. We paid for her CPR & First Aid Certification, which makes her more marketable. Give occasional gift cards, keep her favorite snacks and beverages around, etc..

I have 3 children- 16 months, 3 years, and 71/2years. Sitter for the summer was a friends highschool daughter. Paid her $5.00/hour for 1 child and $1.00/hour for each additional child (sometimes I would have one or two with me for appointments, etc.). This was for an average of 4 hours/day in the morning. I fed the children breakfast before I left and lunch when I got home, so all she had to do was entertain them (I would leave her a play/activity schedule for the morning) and give them a snack.
I also stayed home for a year and a half after I had my last baby. I provided daycare at home for a friends daughter and occassionally one other little boy. Also watched a couple school-aged girls before school for an hour. I am a Special Education Teacher and have also been a teacher/director of a preschool. I charged an hourly rate of $5.00/hour for the part-time children and $125.00/week for the full-time child. This included meals and activities.

I would say it depends on the time the child is babysat if its the night and the child is going to be sleeping and the babysitters just gonna be on the phone or eatting your snacks I wouldnt pay more than 3 an hour..but if its during the day and the child is awake and needs attention and fed and bathed then about 7 an hour. Well good luck!

I live in New York City. We pay our sitter $40 an hour. He is almost 1 year old. But like everything else in this city, that price is probably too high.
I would suggest paying whatever they pay cleaning staff... as it seems to be about the same for quality sitters.

In my area northern Indiana the rate is $6.00 per hour. You can discuss the rate with your sitter before the arranged sitting date and decide together. My daughter gets $6.00.

$5 an hour for occasional sitting. Set a weekly rate for anything more regular like everyday or a few nights a week.

well I guess it really depends on how good of a child you have, how old he/she is, what day it is and how long you're going to be gone. But on average you should probally pay around 5 bux an hour if it's family or friends watching him/her. If it's at a day care it's usually around 8 bux an hour (depending on the day care).

$11.00 an hour for full time nannys in Houston, Tx. and 15.00 an hour for baby sitting during the day or evening.
In smaller towns, a good baby sitter runs $9.00 an hour.
