I'm a criminal justice grad, but there's way too many variables in your question: such as, was it a first offense for the perpetrator? Was he/she a juvenile? Were threats made on the life or well-being of a bank employee? And what was the mehtod of coercion used, i.e. did he/she say they had a hidden weapon? A bomb? (Saying a bomb is bad--under new laws it construes a terrorist threat.)
Assuming the perp was unarmed, simply went in and said "gimme your money..I have a pistol in my jacket" and he in fact had no weapon, and it was a first offense. And he was not a juvenile, he'd most likeyl be looking at 2 years or so in prison, thus might get out in a year with good time. Then he'd probably have about five years' probation.
Keep in mind: The guy who said it meant federal time is wrong. That only applies if it was a federal bank. If it was a state or private bank, the perp will do state prison time. Federal joints are much nicer prisons (club Feds!) but with federal time there is no 'good time.' You do the whole sentence. (An old friend of mine used to rob banks in California and his #1 rule was always rob a federal bank so if he got caught he'd do his bit in a federal joint.)

Most states now consider it armed robbery, even if a weapon was not shown. Probably a long sentence. See you in 30 to 50 years! If you haven't done the crime yet, I strongly recommend that you don't do it. Try getting a paying job, and work for a living. It is SOOO much easier.

LOL! It would be quite difficult to rob a bank without some kind of intimidating weapon. You probably would get community service for abusive language or a jail sentance if you acted violently. I dont live in ohio or even america so my guess would be around 4 years!

Yeah, over the years I have seen folks do all sorts of things, including your deceptive thing with no gun, and I can't remember anyone getting less than a couple years.
Get a f*****g job! You'll make more the first week than you would get from a bank robbery, and still have your freedom and be able to go to work again next week.

Since it's a bank, you'll do time in a Federal prison. Ask your lawyer what he/she thinks. Remember, the guard, employees, and customers in the bank didn't know you didn't have a weapon. What if one of them had died of a heart attack? You'd be facing murder charges now. Think about that before you decide to do something so stupid again!!!!!!
