If you were to claim a broken windshield or a hood replacement does the insurance company send someone to look at the car first then pay out to the body shop? I know for accidents they send out a adjuster but is it the same case with broken parts such as windshields, mirrors etc etc? Anyone know?

Unless you car is being repaired at a Direct Repair facility that has a contract with the insurance co. I would guess that they will want to have the damages inspected.

If your windshield is damaged you can call it in, and they will give you authorization to get the windshield replaced and the insurance company won't need to see the vehicle. What's the deal with the hood? Was it damaged at the same time as the windshield, or are you just seeking a new hood? The hood has to be damaged by a covered loss, and if so, you'd need to bring the vehicle to an adjuster (if it's driveable). Report your claim and you'll be told what to do.

Take photos of the damage. When you go for the estimate, let them know it's for insurance.

But decide if it's worth it financially to make a claim about a windshield. They usually cost around $300 to replace, and I'm sure you have at least a $500 deductible on comprehensive. You won't get any money, and it will just make your premiums go up.

I always take my vehicle to the insurance adjuster, show and tell them what happened. They, then, will either tell you to get an estimate OR if it is something like a windshield, they may recommend a shop they trust. The shop will then send them the bill and they will pay.

In the case of odd ball things. They will get you to get an estimate from a dealer or shop and bring it back to them.

If you have comprehensive.....its usually no problem unless you have a bad insurance co.

for hood definitely and it needs to be the result of some kind of accident. If you have windshield coverage they will have you take the car to one of their authorized shops to repair. You will only be responsible for the deductible. Check your policy to see what they cover

I can't help but wonder if your wanting to claim damage that hasn't actually happen. I noticed another of your questions was "how can I get car insurance in Quebec?" If you are looking to commit fraud; I suggest, "DON'T" , unless you want to go to jail!
