If it's something expensive of your parents, and you broke it, your best bet is to come clean, explain HONESTLY what happened and offer to save up the money to replace it. Don't lie about it, don't try to fix it and hope they won't notice (your mom will), and don't try to act like you have no idea what happened to it. Parents are, contrary to popular teenage opinion, not stupid, and they can figure out pretty quickly when their kids are not being honest with them. If you don't come clean, not only will you get into trouble for breaking whatever you broke, but you'll also get it for trying to cover it up. This is a good opportunity for you to show some responsibility for your actions, it will be rewarded in the long run, trust me on that one! Good luck!!

Well I would not have an excuse, I would tell the truth and except the consequence of my actions.

I would tell the truth and claim responsibility for my own actions. Why lie? Liars always get caught and it just makes you untrustworthy.

Own up. The sooner the better, you may be in trouble but it will pass and your parents would be pleased you can be honest with them. If you don't the guilt will eat you up
