This depends upon where the motorcycle is and who is riding it. And, if it is a loud stereo (not sterio), the police can track it to a house. If there is a kid (teen) and the music is too loud, it violates the noise ordinance. I also will add that whoever is complaining about the noise, doesn't like the choice of music.
The motorcycle is usually traveling somewhere. So, the noise doesn't stay in one place.

Might be the music that is being played. Next time you see a cop, play country and western or something and see if u get a ticket. Harley riders do get tickets for noise sometimes. 2am in residential district will usually do the trick.

It's all about Decibels my friend. The stereo (bass) is louder. The bike is not.
Ticket = unecessary noise.
If you don't like the ticket, turn down the stereo. I don't want to hear your music either. :p

If a motorcycle is too loud, it too can be given a summons for noise pollution.

loud pipes on a bike save lives because people don't watch for them but they can be heard but loud stereos are just annoying.
