Any candle scented or not can kill any bird if burned. Parrots are especially sensitive to them. Cooking with Teflon ( non stick coated ) pots and pans can kill a bird.. again parrots are especially sensitive to it. Incense as well anything aerosol. and the thing about these things is the odorless gas that results from the use of these products doesn't break down over time so it stays concentrated. until the place has been aired out completely. Also if you have central heat and air. putting the bird in another room or even upstairs will not prevent death or injury as the air is circulated and recirculated throughout the whole house.
be extra careful.. Candles Teflon and aerosols are big no no's it may not kill them the first time but it will eventually. Teflon depending on how its coated and what its coated on only needs to heat up to between 250 and 350 degrees to put off the gas that would kill a bird. Thats way to close to stove top cooking temps if not past some peoples stove top cooking temps to risk taking a chance on. Dont even want to think about teflon coated cookie sheets and such

Never under any circumstances spray air freshener around a parrot because of the flourocarbons. Candles are out of the question for bird owners because you have a flying creature and an open flame.

Do not use any air fresheners, scented candles, strong smelling cleaners, or anything like that around your birds. The smaller the bird, the faster the fumes will kill it.

They used to take canaries in the coal mines first to see if they lived, and if they did, they felt it safe for humans to work in there. If they died, then the assumption that the fumes could be fatal to humans.

I wouldn't.
I don't care for spray air fresheners anyway.I miss scented candles, but you simply need to err on the side of safety.
It's just better if you don't.
I don't believe in going completely nuts and overboard about stuff, but certain things are just better if you refrain. It's simply safer that way.

You shouldn't use air fresheners or scented candles around birds. Their respiratory systems are very sensitive.
Over-heated teflon pans can kill birds

Very, very possible! These birds (all pet birds) are caged. They have no choices. If they were flying free, would the be exposed to fresheners and candles? Use common (which is very uncommon) sense.

Being that even teflon pans can kill birds when overheated, I don't use anything scented, unless it is 100% essential oils. There are just too many chemicals in these products to even risk it with birds.

any aerosol sprays used inside near birds is harmful to them. either remove the bird before spraying or dont spray. candles arent the best idea either.
