Can you be allergic to bug bites? Because last night I got a mosquito bite, and when I woke up, the whole half of my knee was swollen and hot. That can't be normal. Is it allergies, or something else?

Are you sure it wasn't a spider bite or that you also got bit by a spider? Sometimes tiny spiders that might be in your couch cushions can bite you and cause similar reactions.

If it was a mosquito and you live in an area where West Nile fever is present, then you need to contact your physician if your symptoms get any worse.

A third possibility is that you got bitten by a tick and need to be concerned about potential Lyme disease. Check the knee photo under the Symptoms icon.

Yes you can be allergic. Some people swell up more than others. Take this up with your doctor though to make sure it was a mosquito

Yes, definitely. Mosquitoes affect me the same way. Use a cold compress and lemon or lime juice on the bite itself, for relief.

Are you sure it was a mosquito? You need to go to a walk in clinic if Benadryl (generic name:diphenhydramamine) does not help.

yup, you are allergic to that particular mosquito, or it has been sprayed with a pesticide, just put ice on it and it should be fine.
