Really you should throw out all your gym clothes and towels. Buy new ones and always wash in hot water with bleach and dry on hottest setting in the dryer for at least one hour. You should probably treat your bedding and home towels the same way since this bacteria can stay in your fabrics. Your doc should have suggested these to you as well as using anti-bacterial soap. If your breakouts are always coming back in the same area, think about your clothing, is it near your underwear or do you use any athletic braces? Throw out anything that may be causing you to be re-infected.

Boils usually form when your hair follicals become infected with staph bacteria. It can happen from a cut or scratch in your skin.
Make sure NOT to store your razor in the shower, and because you are more prone to get boils, you have to change blades sooner than the average person. Many boils take 10 to 25 days to heal. Place a hot and wet towel on it a few times a day to promote faster healing, and don't drain them yourself. Best of luck to you.
If you continue to get these boils, you could have Hidradenitis Suppurativa. Usually antibiotics don't work.

It's in the bloodstream and will continue to arise on occassion. My daughter is a dancer and due to the floors not being constantly cleaned, she too developed a boil. She was treated but told she had staph, she now has reacuring boils. You must have gotten it from the gym and unfortunately there is nothing else you can do about it.

I do not believe that Staph is caused by a dirty house, but it is a bacteria, that is everywhere in the world and if your immune system is not working the best, you can get an infection. I find it hard to believe that the doctor said it was from a dirty house, that sounds like bs. Your immune system is strongest when you have a healthy diet, fresh air, daily baths, drink lots of water, plenty of rest and low stress. Unfortunately for your step-son, it sounds like it might be stressful being around his mother, placing blame where it does not belong, and from the sounds of things probably talking bad about you and his dad to him, which puts him in a tough spot.

Staph grows naturally on your body, on your hair and skin. You can't get rid of it completely. What you can do is use Dial antibacterial as a bathwash(I know someone this is working for) and get generic antibacterial face wash pop-ups from walmart for your face through the day.

my daughters doc told me that she might have gotten it from an infected bug bite ,, she has been hospitalized twice for this and each time the doc asks if she was stung first,,also said that the bacteria that causes it is still in her body and we can expect this to happen a few more times,, at least till her immune systems heals her ,, she is 2 and will be prone until around 8 he said,,just go to the hospital any time we see the start of what may be another boil asap to get antibioctics...

Staph is a tough infection to get rid of. Stay on the antibiotics until the prescription is finished. The most effective for mine was Keflex.

I almost lost my arm from a boil when I was a kid, and I still have the scar. It's very hard to get rid of. Keep going back to the doctor. My mother finally had a new vanity installed in the bathroom and that finally stopped our problems.
