I was driving down the road earlier in the day when an obscure name from the past just out of nowhere occured to me. Does anybody know why this happens, what triggers it?

Think of it like a google search... it's all in there, just a matter of traffic to the site, recency of last search, and unique trigger to take you to an obscure place.

I have had that happen too.
Like have you ever forgotten what you wanted to tell someone and then later remembered what you had wanted to say?
I guess a memory expert would have a better answer, but perhaps its just that were busy and sometimes we lose track of things or casual experience brings old memories or thoughts to mind.

There are so many things that could trigger it subconsciously.It could have been a smell or something as simple as seeing a car or a house that would remind you of long ago.Enjoy the memories..,I hope.

Might be a smell, a sound, or anything that you've subconsciously associated to that name that triggered it. For me, it's normally smells or colours (from small crystals, especially, I don't know why either).

Our mind wonders to other things and our mind is not clear at times to remember certain things..We keep clogging up the mind with too many things at one time. It is good to clear our minds and let our thoughts come through.

Sometimes we try too hard to remember something, especially names. When we take off the pressure, it suddenly comes to us. I don't know why.
