Love does not appear or disappear. You can look at your attachment to this person, understand what it is within you that desires their prescence, and understand yourself better. When the personal demands on a loved one dissolve in this way, your love moves towards the unconditional, and then there is only love, not pain.

Finding a replacement usually works to soften the obsession and grief. Not miss them? Forget them? Not gonna happen. Move on, but don't fight the memory. Learn from it, understand it, and if you can, cherish it along with your other life experiences.

You never really forget them, because what you learned them becomes a part of who you are. You move on day by day.
