Enter numbers, text, a date, or a time
Click the cell where you want to enter data.
Type the data and press ENTER or TAB.
Use a slash or a hyphen to separate the parts of a date; for example, type 9/5/2002 or 5-Sep-2002.
To enter a time based on the 12-hour clock, type a space and then a or p after the time; for example, 9:00 p. Otherwise, Microsoft Excel enters the time as AM.
Tips
To fill in rows of data in a list, enter data in a cell in the first column, and then press TAB to move to the next cell. At the end of the row, press ENTER to move to the beginning of the next row. If the cell at the beginning of the next row doesn't become active, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Edit tab. Under Settings, select the Move selection after Enter check box, and then click Down in the Direction box.
To enter today's date, press CTRL+; (semicolon).
To enter the current time, press CTRL+SHIFT+: (colon).
For entering Text.....
Tips on entering text
In Microsoft Excel, text is any combination of numbers, spaces, and nonnumeric characters — for example, Microsoft Excel treats the following entries as text:
10AA109, 127AXY, 12-976, 208 4675.
All text is left-aligned in a cell. To change the alignment, click Cells on the Format menu, click the Alignment tab, and then select the options you want.
To display all the text on multiple lines in the cell, select the Wrap text check box on the Alignment tab.
To enter a "hard" carriage return in a cell, press ALT+ENTER.

Click the cells under "A" "B" etc and type in what you want too. (click cells one @ a time)
Notice that another box up @ the top is also there for corrections.
Not sure what all this click alt+ is about, I use Excel on a daily basis. When I am finished w/what ever I am putting in cell, I just hit enter.
