how long is reasonable if i want to loose 40 lbs?

Sometimes we can't loose weight as fast as we want. Mostly, we exaggerate the need to loose it fast. It is healthiest to find a way to eat in a healthy way and throw away any desire to loose weight. But we all like to change the way we look. So maybe, try to loose 20. Maybe, eat 5 small meals rather than 3. Maybe, try to cut out harmful foods and drink more water. And maybe try to loose weight over a few months rather than a few weeks. It is very undesirable to allow the pounds to rise and fall. It is best to loose in a very stable way, but it takes longer. I think it is the same with almost everything.

Think of the time and effort you put into gaining it. How long depends on you. But this is really about lifestyle. That's what needs to change. Eating fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains. Moderating sweets and finding those you like that are good for you. I would count on a year if you want to do it in the healthy way.

Weight is 99% the result of diet. Exercise just helps firm up the skin after the weight is lost. Of course, if someone runs 10 miles a day and doesn't eat anything additional they will lose a few ounces. When you diet please remember that you have to eat the minim daily requirements of nutrients or your body will go into the starvation mode and you can't lose weight. Five pounds a month is a good goal, just don't backslide. Good Luck!

In about three months...weight loss is so much of a struggle because of those STUPID skinny models everyone sees in the magazenes.They should show normal people in magazenes...gosh,

A lot of people are answering 3 months or so.
That is not realistic to be sustainable.
Try for two years.
But exercise, exercise, exercise, or nothing will work.
