Now that they passed a law, that will go into effect next week, to ban smoking in restaurants and bars.

I find it actually makes smokers more sociable between themselves as they go out to have their smoke. Then they have a starting point for conversation and such.

I'm very pleased with not having to breathe smoke as I drink and dine. :)

Nice to see yet again government making choices for people on their behalf. How about letting the bars and restaurants make that decision themselves? Shouldn't the choice be that of the bar owner? If they want the custom of smokers then allow smoking. No problem. I've always noticed in UK that when a pub has split rooms for smoking and non the smoking room is the full one and most of the folk are non smokers filling it. Statistics seem to show so far in Scotland that trade has dropped around 10%. I'm sure the landlords really appreciate the nanny state sticking its nose into their business. Isn't it time we grew up and deceided for ourselves where we eat and drink? and what that enviroment should be? Maybe next on the hit list will be to ban food in pubs as statistically especially in the USA, Fat people are a greater health issue than smokers ever were. But then wheres the motivation for our little fat friends in government?

I smoke and it has been that way for years in Florida does not bother us at all... most places have a place for you to smoke... and really I never smoked at the table anyways because most of the time there were children and older ppl sitting around trying to eat and out of respect for them waited... Even with me smoking I wont want a room full of smoke while I was trying to eat.. You will get used to it.. And anyways its good business for them gets you out quicker so they can feed more ppl.. that way they make there money.. what bothers me more is them trying to take the bible and God out if anyone is going to do something about anything it should be that.. there are alot of other things we need to get upset about then the gov. banning smoking in restaurants...

some people is going to *****...
some people is going to be happy...
some people is not going to give a crap...
some bars are going to become "private clubs" with a paying membership at a very cheap cost so now since you are a willing member of a private club you can smoke inside and if you don't smoke since you paid membership and knew smoking was allowed you can say crap and the law doesn't apply...

Here in Florida our restaurants have been smoke free fore a long time now, Our restaurants have pations and out door seating that allows smokers to eat and smoke with that is waht they desire, there were so disgruntaled smokers at first but now everthing is really mellow.
