You could see some light snow as early as November but snow of any significance does not start until December usually. The real snow comes in January and February. December can go either way. We have as many white Christmases as we don't. Late December we have had a few decent sized storms. It is weather so....it varies widely.

It usually starts to snow in NYC after December.
In recent years, my city doesn't get much snow at all, except for one or 2 big snow storms occasionally (probably due to global warming).
I'm a native New Yorker who LOVES snow.
In fact, I have vacationed in Wyoming and Minnesota during winter to enjoy lots of snow.

I have lived in NYC nearly all my life. It usually starts to snow in January, but we will get the odd snow flurry in December. We almost never get a white Christmas, so don't count on it. Also, once in a blue moon, we'll get some freak snow neat Thanksgiving.
