You'd best contact the INS and ask these questions. Most of the answers you are going to get here are going to be opinions only or based on scarce information. When in doubt, talk to the experts. If you don't want to got to the INS, then talk with an immigration attorney.

have you been a resident for at least five years. the process will go faster once you are us citizen. if not, continue with your plans. the fiancee visa is only for us citizens petitioners. you can file as the spouse of lawful permanent resident but that takes long. once you get married file for a v visa to get he rhere while you wait for the paperwork to go through so she at least will have legal status here and you are not far apart. go to uscis.gov

typically it faster to get her on a fiance visa, but hen you must marry inside of 90 days and then there are rule and restrictions. in effect you sign a legal and binding contract with the government that in effect says should you marriage fail inside of 3 years and she goes on welfare, you are on the hook for her welfare. they do this to discourage sham marriages. even if you do get her over nad marry in the alloted time period, the will bring both of you in and seperate the 2 of you and ask a bunch of questions to determine if it is indeed a legal and valid marriage and not a sham one for money. if you get caught, the penalties are huge.

Are you able to go and stay in India? Just go. Who knows, it might be better for both of you.
