No. she teaches hate against other religions, and to lie to your family about Wicca. No serious Wiccan takes her seriously.

I doubt seriously that you are wiccan. You may be a pagan, you could be a neo-wiccan, but not a Wiccan. Wicca is a religion that requires you to join a coven and be initiated into the religion by a prestess. Wicca has specific rules, deity beliefs, and ways of doing things. Many people call themselves Wiccan when in reality they are neo-wiccan. They are pagans that have read some books, frequently bad ones, often mix religious beliefs and paths together to suit themselves and perform some kind of self initiation. These people are not true Wiccans but neo-wiccans. Since you are 16 I doubt that there is a Wiccan Coven that would take you into their fold and teach you, and if you are a member of a coven your high priestess and high preist would tell you that Silver Ravenwolf is not a good author for learning the true Wiccan path. In fact most of Llewellyn authors and books are not good source materials for a true Wiccan. People who read and follow these books are frequently refered to as fluff bunnies because the books are missleading, inaccurate and superficial. If you are really interested in Wicca read Gardner, Crowley, Alexander.

Please do not be a person that misuses the Wiccan title. If you are not in a Coven you are pagan or neo-wiccan not wiccan.

I am not Wiccan I am a pagan, an Irish Celtic Reconstructionist and have followed my pagan path for 15+ years. But I feel, as do others, that neo-wiccans that call themselves wiccan insult and do an injustice to those that have worked hard to become a member of a coven and learn the true Wiccan way. You would not call a Mormon a Catholic so why take on a title that only insults those that are truly on that path.

Okay, so the cover is a little hokey, but it's what's inside that counts, right? Well, Silver RavenWolf has stuffed Teen Witch with enough basic material on Wicca to give anyone a good start to understanding the craft. As the title implies, this book is geared for teens, addressing the truths and myths about witchcraft in light of the issues that teens face, from school to parents to peer pressure. Precocious readers may feel that RavenWolf is talking down to them at times, but keep in mind that this book addresses a broad age group, and Mama Silver (as she is often called) does an admirable job of presenting this information in a manner to which younger readers can relate, while still meeting the needs of the high-school senior. Teen Witch may not be the ultimate "How to be a Witch" guide, and anyone who thinks RavenWolf is trying to write one has missed her whole point. No single book could stake a valid claim to that title.
What Teen Witch offers is an easy-to-grasp introduction to the Craft that answers the basic questions about what being a witch is really all about, and RavenWolf provides a long list of follow-up material for anyone who feels that witchcraft might be the path he or she wants to follow. Writing a book for teenagers about any religion is a tricky prospect, but Mama Silver tackles the problem of discussing an ancient path that has suffered a long history of persecution and negative stereotypes in a way that doesn't step on anyone's toes and shouldn't offend the religious sensibilities of anyone with a mind open to the truth.

THE ULTIMATE DECISION ABOUT READING A BOOK (ANY BOOK) LIES WITHIN YOURSELF - READING REVIEWS AND LISTENING TO OTHERS OPINIONS (IS JUST THAT) IT'S THEIR OPINION OF THE BOOK AND NOT YOURS.

You need to decide for your self - guidance is good - but you decide! Remember it's just a book - there will be tougher things to decide for in your life.

Blessed Be...

Please read this article about SRW, then make your own decision.

Although I agree with this article, my opinion of her books came from reading them myself. I have read:
To Ride a Silver Broomstick
To Stir a Magick Cauldron
To Light a Sacred Flame
Solitary Witch
American Folk Magick
Halloween: Customs, Recipes and Spells
Witches Runes (with Nigel Jackson)

I would not recommend these books to anyone.

I like Vivianne Crowley, Ellen Cannon Reed, Marian Green, Amber K, and the Farrars.

Wicca is a recently created, Neopagan religion. The various branches of Wicca can be traced back to Gardnerian Witchcraft which was founded in the UK during the late 1940s. (By Gerald Gardner)

Silver Ravenwolf is a great author! I have most of her books and I really enjoy her writing. Teen Wicca is a great one to start out with since your a teenager. To Ride A Silver Broomstick is a beginning guide to witchcraft. To Stir a Magic Cauldron has more spell work in it. To Light A Sacred Flame is just amazing and her book on Solitary Witchcraft has everything you need including some ceremonial magick rituals. Hope this helps!

I read a few of her books and they were a waste of my time and money. There are too many worthwhile authors to read.
