Simply put, but what choice did he give you as for as gods, is he offering other gods for us to choose, I thing not so where is that choice, can't use satan he's not a god. Choices people made long ago in the garden from the creation he made and imposed limitation, so he made man & wanted it to obey but not seek other Gods and not to talk with satan that he put to test them, but said you have free will and you can choose me or no one and if not me surly you will die

It was like an unruly student who said, "I can do a better job"
He never challenged his power or strength. But one third of the angels believed him and came to the earth to live with women.
Genesis 6: chapter reads about how they became violent.
Noah and the flood. Jude 6
Job 1: tells how he challenged God and said man serves you for selfish reasons. Let me test him. Also to get a whole earth full of righteous people it took 6000 years. Only those who are righteous will come back. But Satan challenged god and it took time to prove he couldn't do it. He has been a miserable failure.

He did not have to relinquish power. In fact satan has no power that God did not give him. He is still about God's work. Testing people, making them question their faith and reaffirm it. It is already written how the whole thing will transpire and what the outcome will be.

His best creation is choice, and he always lets us live with the choices we make. We all have made the choice to die because we all have sinned. He didn't have to he allowed it because of our choice. What he did do is give us a choice of wether to acept forgivness or not.
Here are your choices, you can
A) eat the meal that tasts good but bad for you (sin)
B) eat the meal that is bland but good for you (not sin)
If you chose A) then you have another choice, you can
A) ask for forgivness and try to do better next time
B) not ask and deal with the eternal conciquences
the questions are so simple but we continue to make the obiously wrong choices. I know I am not above it.

Satan does have power down here. God still controls what Satan can and cannot do. Read the book of Job.

He did not have to.. He chose to. What good would it be if you were a king, to force people to be loyal? What satisfaction? None. But, if given the choice and they come willingly... what a difference.

God has never relinquished any of His sovereign power

I don't think he "had" to. We chose to not go with God, so He let us live out our own choice, which was to listen to someone else.
