Until the sight. Hasta meaning until. La vista meaning sight. Equivalent of "see you later" in English". vista originates from the latin word visum. Sorry don't know where hasta comes from.

Hasta la vista doesn't mean "see you later" , it means "see you next time". Hasta luego means "see you later".
