I am going to be in Phoenix one night and wanted to go out and have a great time. It will be a wednesday night the beginning of October. I would like to get lodgings in that area as well so it is accessible on foot. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Does anyone have an opinion on downtown Tempe? I am looking more for an area with interesting shops, sights and bars in the immediate area. I would prefer to not have to travel far or spend a fortune. Thanks for all your help!

If you are looking to party or go clubbing, I would suggest either Tempe or Old Town Scottsdale. If you are looking for a more wild west type of time, try North Scottsdale or Cave Creek. Personally if you are young, and of drinking age, Old Town Scottsdale would be the most fun.

There are a lot of hotels in that area and you can walk easily to shopping, eating and clubbing.

It also depends on what kind of money you are looking to spend. There are lots of resorts here on Scottsdale Road. I work at one that is about five minutes away from old town scottsdale. But the price for one night can range between $200+ for a standard room since it's starting to get back in season.

I would also suggest the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge Resort. Right across the street from the Resort is a huge shopping center with a bunch of different restaurants and hang outs. Take a look at the links below for the resort website and desert ridge shopping center.

Again, if you are looking for something on the cheaper side, I would look more into the Tempe area. Scottsdale can get a bit expensive. Anyway, good luck and have a safe trip!

I would stay at the Days Inn Hotel in Mesa off the Superstition Freeway @ Country Club. The staff is very helpful, friendly and it is a nice hotel. There is alot to do in the Phoenix area. Please allow me to recommend something really fun to do for that one night. Go over to the Point Resort off the 10 Freeway @ Baseline. Follow the signs through the resort to the Rustler's Rooste Restaurant!! It is a beautiful place to eat and fun all at the same time. Make sure you go down the slide into the dining room and ask for a window seat so that you can look out at the valley and the city below. Then after dinner, I would go over to ASU and look around at the college and get a feel for the town. Im going to be revisiting the Phoenix area the first weekend in November and then moving there hopefully next year. Have fun and let me know what you did for your one night in town. If you need any other information, please dont hesitate to email or IM me. I can tell you alot more about the Phoenix area.

Anywhere as long as it is not south Phoenix or (west) Glendale. Those are REALLY bad with crime and are pretty ghetto.

Scottsdale or Tempe would be good if you are only here for one night. There are a lot of nice clubs, bars, and restaurants in both of these cities.

Downtown Tempe. Everything is walking distance from the Mission Palms, which is really nice. Great food, movies, a couple clubs, shops. Yuccateccan Imports (if they're still there) is in this courtyard behind Rollerz/Fatburger. They have handmade goodies from all over.
