What do you call the tissue or ligament (or whatever) that connects the femur to the tibia (the lower leg)?

Is there even a name? What maintains the bones together?

Cruciate Ligaments - Anterior and Posterior

Tendons & ligaments are what holds the bones to gether.
Ligaments hold bone to bone ( as in the Knee joint).
Tendons join our Muscles to the Bones so we can move the joints.
