pipe wrench

Well this is not the best answer but you could use a dremel tool with a cut-off wheel and very carefully cut the old shower head off. You may still have to use a strong thinner or glue remover to clean the threads before installing the new one. Also you might use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the shower head up real good then use a pipe wrench.

You may need to remove the whole shower arm - that's the piece between the wall and the shower head. Just unscrew it.

Pour some white vinegar into a plastic bag and tie it around the shower head... probably have to leave overnight.
(Assuming that it's not really GLUED.)

If you get it off, give it a good rinse with white vinegar.

Apply heat with a heat gun or other tool to break the glue bond and remove with a wrench, if you don't care if you mar the showerhead finish.
