Okay, lately, I have a major loss of appetite. I am 5"1, and weigh 125 lbs. I really want to loose about 15-20 pounds. So everyday, I pray that I become anorexic (wierd, stupid, i know). So I really don't eat. I just am never hungry. I eat maybe something small, like a soup, or a sandwhich, or a slice of pizza a day. and that's all. maybe somtimes i eat like pretzels, but otherwise, i don't really eat. i do not think i am anorexic, but what am i? am i going to become anorexic?

It's not weird to wish sometimes that you were anorexic - they can control their eating so well and are so thin, right? And you would just do it for a while until you got to your goal weight, and then stop? The problem is that we forget the other aprts of anorexia. Food becomes an issue of control and self-esteem. Once you get caught up in it, it's really hard to get out.
I'm not saying you are anorexic, because worrying about eating could be making you lose your appetite, but you should definitely be careful. Eating only a soup or sandwich during the whole day is not enough calories. And when you eat that few calories, your body slows it's metabolism down because it thinks you're starving and need to conserve energy. That only makes it harder to lose weight.
If you can, see a dietitian or nutritionist and they can help you figure out what's wrong. Seeing someone with medical experience is good becuase you might have a medical problem behind you're eating. Some people have digestive disorders that make them feel sick when they eat. These people are also great to talk to - they have so much experience and can help you plan a healthier way to lose weight and look at food in general.

Anorexic girls starve amazingly, so you must be anorexic in the defintion that you are not eating what you should. Maybe you should see a doctor and tell him/her what you are having. It's weird though your lack of hunger, maybe your psicological need or want of being anorexic is acting in a subliminal way that you don't realize. Try eating healthy food with all the vitam, ins because you can suffer from like your nails separate in a thin layer, or have a skin problem. My final answer is to go and see a doctor, this is not a simple thing it really concerns me. Wish you luck.

I was very sad when I came across your question! I am in recovery from anorexia.....hun, I almost died. I started off the same way you did...just wanting to lose a little weight. Things soon spiraled out of control. I couldnt stop when I lost the weight I wanted to. Do you realize that by not eating you are causing your bodies metabolism to slow way down? Your body automatically goes into starvation mode and holds onto each and every calorie you eat when you restrict? A much better way to handle this is not to go on a diet. It is to eat healthier. Diets just set you up for failure hun. Adopt a life style of eating healthier instead. My suggestion is to eat 5 small meals a day. This keeps you metabolism up. Eat lots of veggies and fruits. Remember to get in some protein as well such as grilled fish or chicken. Walking is great exercise as well. Adopt this way of eating and the pounds will come off and your body will be healthy! I have permanent damage to my body because of the anorexia. If you need to talk to someone who has been thru it, please feel free to email me. We could talk. If not, I promise if you just eat healthier, you will see the results! Good luck.

I know what you mean with the no appetite thing. I, too, have had no appetite whatsoever lately. I'm 5'5" and 120 lbs. though.
It's doesn't have to necessarily be anorexia... you're maybe just worried and stressed about things that are going on in your life. I think that anorexia is not eating by choice, and you're not eating just because your body simply won't allow you to.
But, if you want to lose weight, you need to eat healthy, and exercise! It's definitely the best way.
And why would you want to lose weight anyway? You're not fat.

Hey there sweetie!
First, let me start off by saying that I am proud of you for at least coming on here to say that you are really hung up on your weight. It takes a STRONG person...someone with SENSE and
someone who is tough...not a coward at all to come forward like you just did! That's a great quality to have! It's also a quality of REALITY that most people with eating disorders DONT have! So, even though you might pray to become anorexic...I'm happy to say that you are smart and secure enough to KNOW that there is a better and healthier way! WOOHOO I am SOOO PROUD OF YOU!
Now...
let's find a little bit of truth and solution here!
I think what's wrong with you...is a bit of depression over what YOU see as a weight problem within yourself. I know this because I've been pretty upset myself lately with my weight- so...maybe we can talk this through and find solutions that I know a million girls/women of all ages need to talk about! (go us)!!!
Sometimes, when we see something about ourselves that doesn't look like the latest magazine cover, video vixxen or latest hottie, we can be REAL hard on ourselves. We start to compare and then really begin to tear ourselves down and apart over every little flaw.
The TRUTH is, that your weight at your height is actually a good weight! In fact, you are right within the range you should be! It's kind of funny though, how someone a few inches taller tends to "carry" that weight (or even more) a lot better in our own eyes, right?
Well...the truth is that we all start to freak on ourselves a little- and while a healty diet, some toning up- changing what we eat and how we eat are all ways that we can improve how WE see ourselves and how we look...the TRUTH is that you are doing more harm to yourself than you realize by not eating- or eating the way you are.
What happens is- your body takes the fat from that food...stores it and then starts to "eat away" at the muscle instead! That just leads to all that wiggly, untoned flabby stuff that just makes us look and feel heavier than we really are.
What we SHOULD do...is eat like 4-6 small meals during the day. Like, an orange for breakfast, a salad for lunch, a low carb, no trans fat dinner with veggies, then maybe a yogurt or like a nutrigrain bar or some lo/no fat snacks or fruit between after dinner and bedtime. Add to that a routine, like walking...or dancing to MTV or your fav. CD or something for like 30 mins a day 5 days a week...or, even a long walk through the mall at a good pace. Then, there are some great DVD's like- yoga boooty ballet or those 15 minute pillate's DVD's that are fantastic too.
Those are the things that help shed pounds in a healthy weight...but, more importantly, tone us up and shed inches instead of pounds (which is what makes those hotties so hot in the first place).
Feeling down and praying or thinking about wishing you had an eating disorder are just signs of frustration and I'm glad to say you recognized that early! The most important thing is that you know that nothing that takes control of YOU, your mind, your body or your happiness and feeling good EVER has a good result! BUT...turning that reaction to what you see as not good within yourself to ACTION and really changing it ...take so much less hurt and effort then an eating disorder takes...and the results can be beautiful!
You said your mom knows you've had an appetite issue...but, that she doesn't know how you have felt about praying to be anorexic? The best thing you can do for her and yourself and your friends is to TELL your mom (even if you have to write her a letter). The more people you have around you to keep you aware and away from those bad and sad thoughts...the better you will feel and be!
I promise...you are not alone in judging yourself too harshly! We all do that! Take that reaction and turn it into action. Keep talking with people and pleaseeeeeeeee, stick with a healthy eating and workout routine. Within the first two weeks...you will start to see a positive result!
I promise!
Please, keep in touch and send me an email anytime you need someone to talk to! I'm going to get on this plan myself right away!
((((Hugs to you)))))
You are...and always will be beautiful!!!

If you keep thinking like this, yes! Go seek medical help immediately because you do NOT want to go down the road of anorexia... you already seem to have the mentality, which is quite bad considering there's nothing wrong with your height/weight. And if your eating habits are like that ONLY because you're not hungry and not because you starve yourself, then it's still okay. However, I really do encourage you to talk to someone about this.

You're doing your best to become anorexic. This will not only make you skinny, but will damage your internal organs, brain funnction and general health. If you want to lose some pounds, start walking every day, but get the nutrition you need.

your weird but you already know that. A little secret it's not how much you eat it's what you eat. one slice of pizza a day why waist your time not eating I can list 20 things you could have ate instead and their total fat would still be less than 1 slice of pizza

Wow - you better be careful - you can really ruin your health by not eating properly. If you don't eat enough food, you won't lose weight easily either - because your body starts to store it's calories, thinking there is no food available. You should still eat lots of vegetables in addition to what you are eating now. Veggies won't make you gain weight ! :)
