Imagine for a moment you're hanging over a precipice...
In one of your hands you hold your child. In the other, a whole group of children you've never met (remember this is hypothetical!)
to save one or the other you need both hands....
who do you let fall?

No question my child. It is an awful thing to imagine but I would do anything for my child, even kill if I had to to protect her. 18 years ago my son died and of all the awful things that have happened to me that makes them all nothing. Being a mother is something I can't even describe, from the moment my children were born it was like the heavens opened up and the angels sang.

Of course I would live the rest of my life in sorrow for the choice, but I would still want my daughter to have a full happy life.

Let me also say that I have lived my entire life according to the teachings of Jesus and have always tried to help others, turn the other cheek, and put others first, but my baby tops everything, even if God asked me to sacrifice her I would have to say sorry, can't do it, send me straight to hell.

I doubt I could let go of my own child. I also, logically, see the fact that I am likely more successfull at holding on longer to the least amount of weight.... so letting go of my only child, and then attempting to hold onto a "group" of children, may prove fatal to them all....see?

Im a guy /w no children but I think most would answer (honestly) to save their own child.

It gets more interesting when you ask about children that they know but arent their own, for instance, nieces and nephews, or children of close friends.

I'm not a Mom, but I'm sure most mothers would save their own kids.
Wow, this was really a sadistic question.
Ladies, I have to apologize to you for this person. I am sorry you have been subjected to this bs.

I'd have to save my own child, because when I brought my kids into this world I understood that it was my duty to care for and protect them at all costs.

That's brutal, but it's honest, and I'd hate myself either way.

I'd save my own child, of course.
And spend the rest of my life in terrible guilt.
I think most mothers would give you this same answer.
