Stay on private property when shooting it. Don't go to a school park or any other public place, because then the police DO have a say in it. And if someone sees you out in public, and they report that there's someone walking around with a gun, that's all the police have to go by, and you will probably find yourself in a predicament that you never wanted to be in.
For safety's sake, don't shoot it in city limits. People are too close to one another in the city. Take caution even outside city limits.

It all depends on where you live. Under NO circumstances should you go to an empty field that is nearby or part of a: school, park (public or private), building or structure - abandoned or not, library, public office, police station, prison, court house, etc. Firing a gun of any kind in those locations is currently illegal under th e DHS laws. You can go to federal prison for those. So scrounge around for some forest area, or use your back yard. To prevent the BBs from spreading too far from your target, try to find a used mattress and set it up behind your targets. That will help. And as one other person warned, be careful about ricochets. Just because BBs are a low powered weapon does not mean that accidents cannot happen and that it cannot hurt you. Both can happen.

Do not point this thing at any person. That is the 1st rule to having a real gun. If u use this weapon to rob a bank u will go to jail for 20 years. Use it with a target at a range. or if u cant go to the range you need several acres that has trees no people. put a target in front of a saw horse and shoot at the target not people or animals at all this is a criminal offense. never think it is a toy at all. It is not this is the first step. You should learn how to use a gun but, your dad should teach u how. Sorry guns just freak me out. I was shot with a 4 10 and it hurts. guns are not toys.

Well I think you can raise question at a city park.. because of little children.and really and truly I dont think that is a smart place to do that.. I would think it all depends where you live if you live in a neighborhood..not so much..but, if you live in the country where you have a wooded area , that is all fine and dandy...where you could shoot at old cans and such, like you mentioned..if you lived near a river or a creek go down there..just be careful, and really you need to ask you parents...you know I dont care what type of weapon you have BB Gun or either... they are all to be treated with respect. I had a friend a beautiful girl get her eye taken out by a BBGun..not a great situation for her because it was the next door neighbor guy who did it fooling around with the thing...So, I think you need to ask your parents to help you find a place or to take you to a place like outside the city limits like an old bayou road..and let you shoot it..but to go around the neighborhood..you risk someone calling you out and calling the law..cause they will...People are neighborly that way..hehhehee..you may not get arrested but you will get a talking to and your dad will be given a verbal warning..I know we have kids across the street with Lots of BBGUNS..but we have lots of phone trigger happy finger neighbors with the speed dial to the local county on first name basis...So, stay cool and be safe..

Yes you can go to a deserted area and shoot the BB gun as long the pointing of the gun isn't toward a street with cars or houses or people it will have to be clear in the direction you are firing it just treat it like a real one and be safe.

It depends where you shoot your bb gun, shooting it is not illegal, if you shoot it in a public place, then you have just engaged in wreckless conduct, or if you accidentally hit someone's car with a bb, you have just committed reckless damage, or if it can be reasonably believed that you knew it was going to hit but you shot took the shot anyway, you could be charged with criminal mischief, otherwise, if you cause an injury, like if you were to hit a kid, you could be charged with and arrested for injury to child.....my best advise, is to only shoot where you will not injure anyone or anyone's property, and please think beyond your target, meaning, dont' shoot at a paper target with your sister standing behind it holding it......hey, it's happened!!!

Your parent's property only ( backyard etc...) until you're 16. You can shoot on State property as long as you are under the direct supervision of one of your parents. Otherwise, yes, you can be arrested. It's a juvenile misdemeanor, but they'll probably confiscate your BB-Gun too.

Stay in your own yard or go to the woods (only if you have permission)...don't go to a school park, or anywhere too public, you don't want to accidentally shoot someone. If you do shoot in your own yard, make sure your dad is there, and hit things against a haybale so the bb's don't go flying around.
Also, why don't you take a safety course?
