Shake and Bake.
It was a great place for my parents and (great)grandparents to live & me to grow up but am very glad not to live there anymore. Over the last 30 years southern CA has changed dramatically and it is no longer the wonderful beach towns, rural mountains, and fun desert inland it used to be. Between 'cheaply' built tract housing pushing into areas that used to be beautiful scenic places, nonnative plants and trees causing fires, overcrowded roads, and polluted air and beaches. Southern Ca is also a terrible place to need emergency medical care. Understaffed is the least of it - more like regular criminal negliance in the medical community.

I've lived in LA County for 20 years.
I'd not live anywhere else. The beach, the people, the diverstity, the car culture, hollywood -- I could go on and on.
Very good museums, Griffith Park, 3rd Street Promeade, Olivera Street .... oops, I'm going on and on!
I love LA!

So. Cal is obsessed with the movie industry. It's obsessed with how people look. If you think to yourself "She looks good for her age," it's most likely because she's had tons of plastic surgery. People like to exercise and drink smoothies and be generally healthy, before they hit the club scene hard later. Everyone's got a cell phone, always. It's liberal. There is a very diverse population. You drive one mile and you can go through a really wealthy area, then a really poor area. Everyone in LA is obsessed with themselves and they are pretty naive about there being any other place worth living. It's hot. There are a lot of palm trees. There's a lot of traffic and no good system of public transportation. You might as well speak Spanish because it's more common than English in some areas.
Lots of other stuff.

I've never researched SO CAL. I've never been. But I do know this. There is no other place in the world that I would rather go to. I've dreamed about CALI since I was 14, just starting to listen to Punk Rock and Skateboarding. Great beaches, ethnic foods, Wonderful people {unless your in LA so I've heard} So. You ask what do I think...........Heaven

My step-sister Becky Bols used to live there and said that it was ok but, they don't have much things to do there. So they moved back to Bloominton to be closer to me and my family. I live in Limestone Meadows in Kankakee,IL. Well good luck moving to Southern California!!!

Head for San Diego! Unless there is a specific place you want to visit in LA, San Diego is much nicer.
