A disciple of Jesus is a Christian. However, many who claim to be Christians are not disciples of Jesus.
A disciple if a student who is under discipline. In the case of a Christian disciple, the student studies daily from the textbook. The textbook in our case is the Bible.
A disciple is taught by a teacher. In the case of the Christian, that Teacher is Jesus. Many Christians, however, don't even bother to open their Bible to see what is actually in there. They go to church once a week (if that often) and expect to learn.
The disciple applies himself in the Teacher's concepts. The disciple becomes like his Teacher.

Deciple. A desiple is one who spreads the teachings of Christ. Anybody can call their self a christian which means professing belief in Christ. A true mark of a changed person is action not words by itself.

To be a deciple of jesus means that you are his brother, and to be a christian means that you show others what it is like to be a brother, and through showing them you are their brother and that you care about them and love them, then you also show them you are jesus deciple.

There are no real Christians. To be a Christian means giving up all worldly goods and chattels, turning the cheek to an enemy when struck on the face and forgiving those who do you harm. Know anyone like this? Only a saint. Oh, yeah - also, obeying the Ten Commandments, if only you can remember what they are.

If you are a Christian then you have to be a disciple oif Jesus. The word Christian means Christ in me. Anybody says that they can be one without the other hasn't understood the Bible.

Taking Christian as meaning true believer: Christian believer has salvation but does not work to produce fruit for Christ.
Fruit (lost souls) being-- working to convert other non-believers into accepting Christ as personal savior.
A disciple of Christ on the other hand is a laborer. Working to bring in other converts. By teaching , preaching or ministering
the word (GOSPEL) to others.
Christ stated: harvest is plentiful but laborers are few.
So disciples are true believers who labor (work) to convert others into Christianity while Christian believer is a follower of Christ's preaching and teaching but is more of a witness or testimony to salvation rather than labor to bring in a harvest for Christ.
Christ needs disciples to continue to spread the GOSPEL.
As he stated= go forth making disciples of all nations. (preach -teach and minister unto all world in effort to win converts)

We should be both!
A disciple, follows what Jesus taught, and as Christians, we should be following Jesus, as the word Christian means Christ's disciple.
