It really depends who you're talking to. If you're talking to the really gung-ho Christians, it's partly in hope that that will somehow convert you, and partly reminding themselves that even if they don't like the fact that you're not like them that Jesus will still take pity on you anyway. In other words, you're absolutely right.

I don't know you, so I can't really say if I like you or not.
But I do know that Jesus is capable of loving you, no matter how nasty you are.
Most of us don't have hard feelings against those who believe differently than we do. I know I don't. Sometimes, I can be moved to pity, because I can see how desperately the world is working against Christianity, and I can see that, now that it isn't the "in" thing anymore, that people are frightened, and that is sad. Usually, though, I just accept that this person has heard what we have to say, and has made up his/her mind what they think about it, and there's really no point in arguing about it. Either God will work with them and bring them hime to Him, or He won't...in the end, it's really up to Him, not me.

I suppose it's like everything else...different people do it for different reasons. Sometimes, I think they say it hoping that they can convince themselves that, since Jesus loves you, there must be SOMETHING loveable about you...if only they could figure it out!
At least, that's the way I see it for myself. I know Jesus does love me...I just haven't figured out WHY yet.

No, Christians tells you that Jesus loves you, because it is true.

God loves you so much that He gave His Son to die a cruel death on the cross, so that you have the opportunity to go free.

O.K. I'll stop telling you that Jesus loves you because you got the picture. I'll start telling you that the devil hates you.

because he does love you that's why. He loves us all no matter what. He died on the cross of us. Do you know of anyone else who would do that for us? I sure don't. God Bless

Jesus loves you, and christians ahould love you too, because we are trying to be like Christ. I was once in your predicament, but I accepted Christ as my Saviour, and am on my way to heaven. I am not more priveledged than you, just on my way to heaven, because of what Jesus did for me, So why shouldn't I love you. The Bible tells us to have compassion on those that are on their way to hell. Accept Christ, gain life!

No they're just all robots. They want you to be just like them. It's kind of like the Stepford Wives, you know...misery loves company and all that.
