Evangeline's on Brodie Lane received high votes in this year's Chronicle reader poll. I live nearby and do enjoy their po' boys and abita beer.
It is a bit north, but Gumbo's in Round Rock is also good and said to be one of the best in central Texas.
The Cypress Grill off of William Cannon is good but overpriced with small portions.
I noticed that somebody mentioned Sambet's Deli on Spicewood Springs. While it is a neat store and has good to-go lunch options, it is not a sit-down restaurant with a full menu.
I would also recommend Papadeauxs which is consistently good even if it is a Texas chain.

I've heard good things about the Alligator Grill on Lamar. But I live way up here in Killeen, so I haven't had a chance to try it.
