Do on-line dating services really work? Has anyone REALLY hooked up with anyone else or are they just money-makers preying on the lonely and desperate? And is it REALLY considered desperate to be searching these sites?

Well from a womans perspective its quite handy.....most of the dating sites are free to us....hmmm....kinda tells u about men huh? what they are willing to do and what the world knows woman are to smart to "pay" for that...lol....anyway, they do work and they arent for the desperate because think about it, everyone (practically) has a computer and most are too busy to go out and do it the conventional way......try one of the more least expensive sites and see how it works, better yet put yourself on one and see if and how many hits u get then u can pay for it to read the emails......BEST OF LUCK

Online dating services are the safest way to go in my eyes. You can limit how much people know about you, which can also be seen as a bad thing if you encounter Ms. "Emotionally Unstable and Ready to Kill". There are a whole lot of people who want to hook up with a person just like you. Seeing that there are so many people using the services now, I'd say it's safe to say that if you are desperate, you're not alone. Have fun and be safe!

I think they DO work. My g- friend has met many nice guys ,nothing too serious, untill about 2 months ago. They get along great and are both really happy. It is difficult for us as we get older to meet people who want to meet someone and actually get to KNOW eachother, not just for a hook up. I think it's great and it can definitely work, no you are not desperate!! Good luck ;)

It can and will work. She has done the eharmony and the match.com sites. Also, there are speed dating get togethers which can be a lot of fun too. There are many "singles" meetings in metro areas. You are not alone. Don't let them discourage you !

I know of two couples that met this way and they are now happily married. I have tried dating a couple of guys from a online dating site but, it hasn't worked out for me. I found the guys that I dated weren't really interested in a long term relationship but, were actually
players. So, I guess it could work depending on what you are looking for. My suggestion is, give it a try for a month and see how it works for you. Good luck!

It isn't desperate.
It certainly is difficult to meet people ytoday since most folks don't want to go to bars. Work can often take up a great deal of time and it is not a great place to find a date. Where to find quality singles? The dating service.
Give it a try...

You must be careful. It seems like a great idea at first but I've met two great guys who turned out to be the freakiest weirdos. Conclusion: meeting real people in real life for real relationship is best & can rarely be found on the internet.

I tried it. After 6 months I cancelled my subscription. I didn't meet or date one single person. Most on those sites are very shallow and are looking for the "perfect" person. If you have crooked teeth or a few extra pounds, most won't give you the time of day.

They can work if you like the person. But I did try it and met the person but I didn't like him, so it didn't work out. And, no they are not considered desperate acts. But, you do have to be very careful.

My mother met her current boyfriend from an online dating site. They currently live together and are VERY happy. So, yes, I believe some online dating sites really do work.

I have hooked up a couple of times. But becareful, Many women lie about thier age , Job , and them selves.
