i have painted my hall duck egg blue, my carpet is navy blue and i want to know what colour lampshadeto go for

no more blue unless it is a light background with a print
try a creamy beige for a neutral
a yellow or red for contrast
or opt for a light green for a cool soothing look
whatever color you chose make sure you use it in other accent areas to tie the room together
burgundy for a rich look would work well too

I used to have this colour scheme in my bedroom. I bought lamps that were a very soft metallic pink with big cream shades edged in gold, it worked well, broke up the blue but still matched. Oh I also got a bedspread that was light and dark blue patterned with a bit of gold in it.

I would go with ivory or cream color to warm up the blue tones and would add some bright accents in the room - bright yellow or a red would be striking. You might also try a pattern lampshade.

I would go with navy to match the carpet & set off the walls or you could always go for a class lampshade - that way it is see-through & it wouldn't matter if you needed to redecorate at any time.

You can accent with either buttery yellow or burgendy. I would use the yellow accents in the spring and summer, and darker reds in the winter to warm it up. Don't forget other accessories like candles, flowers, pictures and photos in decorative frames.
