Bell's contributions were largely overshadowed by his invention of the telephone, but he also made significant contributions in the field of genetics, hydrofoils, airplanes, electronics, speech therapy, hearing aids and many, many more. His was a very fertile mind.

Not a lot of people know that Alexander Graham Bell invented cheese & onion sauce for pasta.

Telephone (1876) Voice and sounds transmitter through long distances
Photophone: transmits sounds through a beam of light
Hydrowing(1919) that reach a top velocity of 112 km/hr
Decibel: was named in honor of Bell. Its used to measure the volume or intensity of a sound

Like many others of his time, he experimented with manned flight. He built huge box kites based on many many tetrahedral cells. These weren't powered, but rather were towed. None of his big kites were practical, which is part of the reason why modern airplanes aren't based on tetra-kites.
