I just started taking Lexpro and I am unable to reach an orgasm, Im a guy, this is a first for me. Taking a ssir is also a first.

What I want to know is, has anyone gone through this before, and will it go away in time. Not reaching an orgasm is, well, depressing.

Yeah that side effect does suck! I can't take that stuff as I also get the jitters. I've tried various stuff like that, and it basically sets my nerves tingling and makes me grit my teeth. It's like being on some nasty cold medicine.

That is a side effect and from the few people I know that have had this happen...it doesn't go away. :( Ask your doctor about taking something like Wellbutrin which is supposibly the same kind of med w/o the risk of sexual side effects.

Yeah, like you need to lose the ability to orgasm when you are already depressed, right?! Meds are something else...Good luck!!!

I started taking Lexapro 10mg a day three or four years ago. It did not really have any effect on me. A few months ago, my dosage was increased to 20mg a day and I do not have the sex drive I used to have. I can go a week or even more without having the urge to have sex. But, when I do, I have no problem with the outcome :-)

The most frequent side effects reported with Lexapro are nausea, insomnia, problems with ejaculation, somnolence, increased sweating, fatigue, decreased libido, and anorgasmia.

1,2 Patients taking Lexapro typically have mild to moderate side effects which tend to go away with continued treatment.

I'd give it a few weeks and if things don't change I would definetely ask your doctor to change your anti-depressant. There are many available options, you shouldn't have to suffer sexually.

The only anti-depressant that claims is does not have sexual side effects is Wellbutrin.

Anyhow, here is the official website side effects:
http://www.lexapro.com/english/about_lexapro/side_effects.aspx

It mentions adorgasmia which is the inability to reach orgasm.

join the club - the best thing to do is talk to your doctor -- just another way for drug companies to sell us something else - but at least lexapro fixes or helps with the original disorder

well, lexapro is a pretty powerful drug and it can take many things away from u, including sex drive. maybe you should think about taking another medicine.

That never went away for my wife when she took it. It does go away for some people and it doesn't for others. I take Effexor and it did go away for me.
