think we put to much faith in a higher power to guide us and we don't put that much faith in ourselves. Man wrote the bible and Jesus was a man, all our prophets good or bad are just like us, normal people but with a vision.

look around what do you think in this world conforms to the princples written in the Bible. Not much that I se and there is your answer, what we are is the work of the unfaithful. True these have often enlisted the assisstance of lazy and not too bright Christians but that is just the human side of these people.

Here is something I witnessed you might find interesting. I worked in a residential adolescent care facility for years. Most of the kids did not respond to peoples well wishes and there were many there trying to help. Overall maybe 10% went on to be people who would contribute positively to society. I always liked these kids but most wore out in a hurry. Here is one unmistakeable thing I saw happen over and over again. When one of these kidz decided to ask Jesus for help they made really big positive changes. Some others made positive changes slowly but these kidz like jumped up and made a 180* turn around in an instant. There were always tears and often severe weakness at that point in time.

go right ahead and put your faith in a foulable creature...can you lift yourself up by your bootstraps? Do you even know the number of hairs on your head? If the creation is so much greater than the Creator as people want to think, then why not save yourself from the dispair and crisis that come to this life? Could it be that you don't see them before they are upon you?
If you are a god unto yourself, then can you save yourself from death?

The true image of GOD is the ability to be and do all of these things...so go ahead and put your faith in the lowest power of man.

Jesus was a man as the prophets but wrote through the words of God. No man is nothing without God.

My "faith" involves the faith of humanity.
I am very curious and optimistic on our survival and the religions are necessary for mankind at this point in time.

Earth isn't meant for this many people in regards to our rate of consumption.

Those who will survive are already preparing for worst case scenarios.
If I had to do it, I would keep people at these levels in which they couldn't understand the big picture and have there energy utilised in creating structures capable of withstanding every imaginable bad thing that can happen.
Then I would try to stockpile all the natural resources I could.
They would never know as long as I kept putting money in their pockets

I think that we would fall fast and hard....you say that Jesus was a man and all the prophets etc were only men ..but the one thing you failed to realize is that they all were led by a divine God....and their vision was from a Divine God.....
Man will always fail each other because we are not perfect and that is how it always has been...man will always let you down....
God will not let you down and is perfect in knowledge and understanding etc....so I would choose to Keep my faith in God and not man......

You touch a difficult subject here, politics is how man is able to make things better for himself. The current system of politics is there to keep the rich, rich. Whats the alternative?

yes, but God gives us a vision and without Him we would be nothing. we would be so lost without those who pray for us that we never even know about. without God we would have no guidance and spirituality and be focused on material posessions which leads to greed which causes selfishness and the world would go at war just because they were fighting over what they wanted. without God we would hae no morals and the world would most likely end as we know it.

The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first sign a species is achieving sentient maturity is when they get rid of their gods.
