As organized ground combat units, yes (I'm not sure Iceland counts, but technically they were there to help the Brits defend it).

As members of ships' detachments, yes.

As members of joint staffs, yes.

As members of the OSS, yes (there is a great story about a Marine captain serving with the OSS who held a bar full of German officers at gunpoint and forced them to sing the Marines' Hymn before he escaped).

And by the way, when referring to members of the USMC, the word "Marine" is ALWAYS capitalized ;-)

Yes, they trained 4 Army divisions for amphibious warfare and led them in the first landings in North Africa. Marines held a port in North Africa. They had Marines in London and Northern Ireland. Marines operated for the OSS in Europe. Marines served aboard the Navy ships which served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean.

serveral good answers there, plus the Marines helped train the army units for the beach landing, also Marines assisted the beach master groups. Not many though, and there were some Marine units that were suposed to be part of it, but were pulled out and sent to the Pacific. and like said before, Lots of Marines assigned to the U.S. Naval forces.

I'm not sure about Marine Units, but elements of the US Navy were involved with the crossing of the Rhine. They ferried tropps over the river.

Drunken Whatever is wrong.
Marines did NOT storm the beaches at Normandy. Members of the US Navy were on the beach.
Their song says "from the Halls of Montezuma (That's Mexico) to the shores of Tripoli (that's North Africa...and doesn't refer to WWII).

Look for a US Order of Battle for the European theater to see if any US Marines show there in any form other than on ships.

additional comment:
ALSO Jim C below doesn't know HIS geography either. Yes we've heard of Iwo Jima, NO it is not in EUROPE. Read the question.

Nope! The only Marines in Europe would have bees yhose on sea duty with the navy. Their primary job was jail duty and messenger for the ships captain or admirals.

Most were deployed to the Pacific theatre for the Island hopping campaign, but I'd imagine some brigades were diverted for D-Day..

Not that I am aware of. There were probably some Marine contingents onboard US Navy vessels in the theater, but I don't believe any participated in European ground operations.
