The cost at my vet's is $30.00 and then of course the registration fee. If you love your dog as much as we love ours it is worth every penny should they get lost or stolen. Getting the chip is one thing but the vet is supposed to id the dog upon every visit and mine does not do this to my 3 dogs because he knows me! That is all fine and well but I would feel better if he routinely did this to all dogs including mine. As I have told him I would not be offended at all. I would actually feel better knowing he routinely did this to all of his patients. Even nice people have been known to do bad things. The vet could be treating stolen dogs and not knowing it and have told him of my concern. So please get the chip for the protection of your dog and your heart should anything happen and also please reinforce to your vet that he/she routinely check all pets.

Around here $30-45. Then usually $17-25 to register it when you send the form in.
It can be as low as $20 if you get it implanted at a Microchip clinic held at dog shows or Dog Ownership days.

You do not need sedation to implant a chip. I do it on 8 week old puppies and they are fine. Have done MANY cats without sedation also.

It depends on where you live and where you get it done at. Some local humane socities do it for much cheaper then a vet. I got mine done for 25.00. Though if your dog was previously tattooed you can get it done for no charge if not its 35.00.

here are two websites that might be of futher help to you.
