Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown because that's the beginning of their day.

The only clue we have about when Jesus Christ will return is found at Daniel 12:

11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days."

According to what God told Daniel, Jesus will return 1,335 days after the sacrifices are stopped in the Third Temple. This prophecy is given so the Jews will know exactly when they may expect Him to appear. However, it is meaningless for us today, since we are not in the Tribulation.
