My son who is 16 wants a camcorder for christmas but I do not know anything about camcoders.I can not spend anymore than 200.00.

what does he need it for? if he just needs something to record school events and stuff like that, or to make videos to put onto youtube, then get him a flash memory camcorder (the kind that use memory cards or internal memory), or a digital camera, with vga video functions.
if he is planning on making movies (as i do), then get him a minidv camcorder (not minidvd), and make sure it has ok functions. hope this helps!

Really if I was you I would go down to Walmart, they have lots of camcorder at affordable prices, there is also a little one called VCamNow I bought it for my 11 year old, I will post some pictures and a video so you can check out the resolution. I payed $75 dollars but I think is $45 now.

It uses an SD card of any size the bigger the card the more it hold.
Also if he wants something more sophisticated you can go to eBay.com they have use camcorder or even new for OK prices

Target and Walmart have inexpensive camcorders.....or, you should look in the classifieds....sometimes used ones are cheaper than new ones, but still in good condition oh, and CVS has disposeable/ 1 time use camcorders $30
