My daughter is 6 months old and has been on solids since around 5 months. She currently only eats fruit and vegetables. I just want to know at what age can you safely add other foods to her diet, such as pasta, meat, rice, etc. Thanks.

Your going to find a WIDE range of answers to that one. Some people have VERY strong feelings on it- so I won't go there.
Ask your MD their thoughts.

Wait until 8 months then add one new food per week that way if an allergic reaction occurs you will know what caused it...

Start with rice and pasta chopped finely save the meat until 11 or so months... Be sure to keep including the formula/breastmilk in your childs diet because they need the vitamins/nutrients... and thier bodys will not metabolize the solid foods to give them those until about a year... Avoid acidy foods such as tomato sauces until about a year as they will upset your childs digestion...

And remember the formula/breast milk... they need it until 1 year as part of thier diet so they recieve the correct vitamins nutrients...

She could have the Gerber meat, but that stuff os really NASTY. After my son had been on baby food for a month or 2 I started grinding up some of the foods that we were eating, like beef stew, spaghetti, etc. He is 2 now and not a picky eater at all because he got used to regular food early on.

At six months she should probably be on the Stage 2 baby foods. At that stage there are a variety of dinners that include meat and rice. I gave my son a chicken wing at around 8 months. Now at 19 months he eats everything from salads to steak.

Check with your baby's doctor as to when to add other foods. Many people have varying opinions on the subject. You should listen to the person who knows best - your doctor.

Take a look at http://www.homemade-baby-food-recipes.com/6-to-9-month-baby.html - there is advice there about which foods to introduce and when. There are also lots of recipes if you're making your own food.

I agree with MommyK...Everyone will have a different suggestion and age. It is best to either ask your Doctor or follow your instincts.

if it can be mashed or pureed she can have it. i went by my babies ability to handle eating rather than their age. Crackers are a good thing to start with or vanilla wafers.
