Ruins the whole image of a Just and Merciful, Loving God, doesn't it? I guess religious people don't realize that when they push "God", using these types of tactics on people to get them to believe, that ultimately, they are only getting the other people to believe in Their image of "God". Which is why non's are constantly asking them to Prove their God. And, of course, they can't prove it. (You can't use a book to prove your idea of the book is Truth). And they ignore this, until someone else uses a different book. Then of course, it's totally different.
I guess most will never really see they are only advertising Their version of God, no matter what Book they use to Prove it. I fully believe that what we see of these images of God in other people, is really only the reflection of their heart.

I suppose it does sound a little crazy to someone who doesn't believe. The whole going to hell thing is kind of not true-please check your facts before you judge. God's a pretty powerful dude. He wanted a relationship with people since the beginning of time and then Adam and Eve messed it all up by being tempted by the devil. After that went down, he declared that he'd beat the devil by bringing along something that would defeat him permanently. A few years later (and by a few, I mean a lot because it had to be at the right time), Jesus Christ was born. Jesus Christ was the ONLY person who lived his life perfectly EVER. I mean, even a nonbeliever can see that. He was the perfect sacrifice... the sacrifice to end all other sacrifices (the Jews had to sacrifice goats and such as a blood offering all the time in the old testament to even get to pray to God). Jesus Christ's death & resurrection opened the doors to everyone so that everyone, not just the Jews could have a relationship with God. Anyway, it is declared in Romans that whoever believes that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead for their sins will have eternal life and their sins will be forgiven. It also says that God is no respecter of persons-which means that he doesn't care who you are: Jew, gentile, black, white, male, female, murderer, whatever(because Jesus Christ died for US... the ONLY person who ever made it through life making the right decisions ALL THE TIME... he died while we were ALL sinning, whether it be by telling a little lie or by killing somebody). It states in the bible that all sins are equal.
When people who have never believed die, they just die. Their remains are just objects... they are lifeless. They won't go to a magical place called hell with some guy with red pointy horns.. they'll just not be alive anymore. They won't experience anything else ever. When people who have believed just once in their life die, they will go to heaven in time.
I like to believe this because I don't have to worry about every little action and if I'm going to die before I atone for my last sin. Everyone sins. This is not to condone a life of killing people or molesting kids or whatever. It says in the bible that all things are now lawful but not expedient. That means that because Jesus Christ died for everyone who believes, you can do anything after you believe and you'll still go to heaven, however not everything is good for your relationship with God and is not good for other people or yourself.
Think what you want, dude. But I've got eternal life and I'm pretty excited about the fact that I don't have to worry about what God thinks of me on an everyday basis because I know that no matter what, He still loves me unconditionally.

1. We don't make the rules, we believe in them as they are written for us to understand = faith
2. There is mention of the fact that we come to God only through the Son and we must believe to get in. It's the fundamental rule based on the fact that sacrifice was always necessary for forgiveness and Jesus was the only possible sacrifice for a hard-headed, rebellious people. He was the ultimate sacrifice. You cannot have forgiveness without that sacrifice... which means you must believe in that sacrifice.
3. There are several verses dealing with different levels of sanctification... as in rewards of tenfold, twenty fold, and a hundredfold. I don't know for a fact, but believe there may be different levels in heaven.
4. There is a change that takes place in a believer that makes disobedience to the will of God at first difficult, then distasteful, and then abhorrent. Believing changes a person and true belief does not continue to rail against the Lord by doing those things He instructs us not to do.
5. Please read the Bible. Just once. You will be changed in whole or in part and that is evidence of the Holy Spirit giving credence to the assertion that the Bible is the Word of God. It is that which convinces one of the absolute sanity of believing.

Hbr 2:3 How shall we escape , if we neglect so great salvation ; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord , and was confirmed unto us by them that heard [him];
How can people reject him? Its a free gift all they have to do is believe, ask, and receive. As far as murders and those who molest kids, only God knows if they got saved. You can't claim to be saved and live like the devil either. There must be a change. You cant backslide unless you went forward.
Read Matthew 7:21:23 this will show you not everyone who says they are saved is saved. This scripture shows how someone in the name of Jesus casted out demons and done many works, but the Lord says depart from me all ye workers of inquity for I never KNEW you. That is great that people are nice, but our good works will not get us to Heaven, its only through Jesus can we go.
Lets just say it was works, and this good person you was talking about got there on there good works, and lets just say God says how did you get here. Then that person could say I did it myself didnt need Jesus after all. But we know works did nothing for that person to earn salvation. In the Old Testement it took the blood of animals for those people to be forgiven once a year, but Jesus paid it in full.

okay way out of proportion. if you truely believe and are saved there should be a complete change in your life. but if a sex offender came to my church and said he was saved yeah i would believe him but im not stupid not leaving kids near him and he should probably be greeted as soon as he comes in and basically not be left alone. why would this happen? well dont tempt your fellow brother if he had a problem with it why let him be tempted toward it again and second well people are people so why let nature take its course when you can just keep a watchful friendly eye on them and things will be good.
but what does helping people have to do with anything. i understand why you would think so but you cant get into heaven by works alone. if you could then all you have to do is be good for the second half of your life or on your death bed give all your worldy goods to the poor and all is right with your soul. you cant steal something and then give it to the needy and feel as though you have done a good thing. seems kind of a cheap way to get into paradise dosent it? things dont work that way here or in the afterlife.

I agree with you.
Many Christians don't agree Jews are the Chosen people but it was echoed by Paul in Corinthians or Romans that Gentiles are now incorporated into this because of Jesus.
It's also hard to fathom that a Christian who does sinful things on an on-going basis would get into heaven while an Atheist who never does wrong won't.
The book of life is the final say and God is in charge of that, not Jesus.
Jesus warrants you ever lasting life (it doesn't say where this will be) and access to the father (God -- only through Jesus can you reach the father).

Not all Christians think this way. Me for example do not think it to be crazy for another to have a different belief or that they will go to Hell. I don't forgive molesters and murderers. Don't generalize a whole group of people that is crazy.

Well the thing is God has revealed truth through his son, Jesus. We're living in an age where you have no excuse to deny him and to deny him is to sign and seal your own death sentence. But God judges the heart, and people with a heart for God as well as a heart for doing Gods will (good) will naturally gravitate towards Jesus. People that have a poor heart towards God and think they are good by the worlds standards will indeed not be rewarded for their unbelief but punished.
God has already made up his mind on who is good and who is evil and we get to see it played out everyday.
Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent." -John 6:29

Pretty crazy.
But, even as a non-Christian there's something I like about the idea of redemption.
No, I don't mean the pervert who molests children but accepts Jesus on his death bed and is forgiven. I don't think that makes up for what he did-- regardless of what God might think if She existed.
What I like is the idea that people can make a fresh start. I don't necessarily trust them until I see they're really sincere. But, I want to believe people CAN change.

yep- the bottom line seems to be if you repent and ask for forgiveness no matter what you have done or who are are you are then and only then saved. The bible says it is by asking for forgiveness of your sins you are then saved. It is not about what good you have done alone or caring or helping others, it is also praying for forgiveness that saves you.
