The Catholic Church is not a Christian church.

They pray to Mary, God's Word says pray to God in the name of Jesus.

There is no where to be found in the Bible about praying to Mary I know because I was Catholic and when I looked and actually read the Bible I became convinced I couldn't remain Catholic. The belief in praying to a woman who was the mother of a god goes back to pagan times and the Catholics have adopted through the years many pagan teachings as their own and they say that this is tradition Jesus nowhere in the Bible tells us to pray to Mary what's more the Bible says that the only go between, between God and man is Jesus.

SInce the Bible was written by men (perhaps women, as well), isn't your question begging the question? Or do you mean to ask "Where in the books of the Bible that were selected by the Council of Trent does it specifically say to worship Mary?" In which case I don't know, but I'd point out there are a lot of concepts discussed in Christian mythology that is not specifically referred to in the Bible. Such as Rapture, or Second Coming, Original Sin, Immaculate Conception, Christmas, the Pope, Transubstantiation, Unpardonable Sin, Infallibility, Inerrancy, or Sunday School, to name a few.

Perhaps you're setting the bar higher for Catholics than for your own beliefs?

It does not state anywhere in the Bible to pray to Mary. We pray to God only - no one else. Mary is our intercessor. She pleads for us, just as you would plead for a friend. We do not pray to her, we ask for her help to intercede to her son, Jesus. She is our mother and what mother would not want to help her children?

Do you ask friends in this life to pray for you? It is the same when we pray to Mary and the saints to ask them to pray for us and with us as we pray to God.

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The fervent prayer of a righteous person is very powerful." - James 5: 16.

When we pray to Mary and the saints, we are asking them to pray for us. Those in Heaven are very righteous.

The whole bible was written by man, so following it is doing what a man told you to do.
