I know plenty of people that drink 2%, 1%, or skim milk, but since whole milk only has about 4% fat anyway, does it really matter? Or does it just make some people (lookin at YOU, femmes) FEEL like they're doing something healthy?

Whole Milk has 4% fat BY WEIGHT. This is much different than having just 4% fat. Since the fat weight less than the water in the milk it you can cram allot of fat into that 4%.

If you want to keep your calories and fat low and be able to drink more than 4 ounces a day try skim milk. I know that most will say yuck, when you mention skim milk but there are new products on the market called Skim Royale, Skim Special and about 5 or 6 others. These have the same calories as skim milk yet are not watery or have a funky color.

My local grocery store sells them for about 1¢ more than regular skim milk. They are made by the same brands that sell whole & skim milk just a newer version.

Try them, I think you will like them.

It is not so much the calories for me, as I work out a lot, but the cholesterol. Heart conditions run in my family, so I am trying to prevent that. Almost all fat in milk is saturated fat,and even a little bit makes a difference.

1 cup of whole milk = 145 calories, 1 cup of skim milk = 85 calories.

That can be a drastic difference when anyone is counting calories.

SOME people with cholesterol problems need this(1%) milk. PEOPLE on diets. AND diabetics too. AS whole milk has also more sugar in it also.

The less saturated fat that you have in your diet the better it is for your arteries. cholesterol level and heart - it's got nothing to do with being male or female - unless, of course, you take into consideration the fact that men are more prone to heart disease than women. So it's over to you, Joe.
