well , anything , i have done it myself many times, what you can do is either make one thats edible or not. Heres what you need 2 do if you make one that you can eat make a cake use icing , candy, etc for the cell and the lysosomes etc. but if you make one that is not edible then use a stirafoam circle then glue on pieces.

that is a wonderful project and really up to your imagination. I've seen kids use all kinds of things, mostly stuff you can buy in an art store or from around the house. I would think it would be fun to make a whole cell out of food products. For the cell you could use a hard round tortilla shell or even a soft tortilla shell or pizza crust (if only for a few days so it doesn't go moldy.) get pasta and jellybeans in various shapes for the organelles. you can circularize a piece of licorice for the nucleus and inside you can put the chromosomes
