My friend has married a man and has consumated the marriage once. It has been over a year since they have been together as he lives in another country. Since then she has fallen in love with someone else and wants to divorce her husband. How can she do this ans what does Islam say about this?

She lives in the UK, and just does not love her husband.

tell her the prophet once divorced a woman from her husband for that very reason.she will find it in bukhari,sahih muslim.

All I can say that the woman did a grave sin. After getting married, she is not supposed to fall in love with anyone else. I am not sure whether this is a valid reason of divorce.

She would have to ask her Imam, I assume she converted? if not, all she needs to do is go file for divorce in a local court.
