Sounds to me like you should go see a Dr. when you first give birth you'll bleed heavier but as time goes on it should slow down This definately don't sound normal to me and i've had 3 kids. Plz call your Dr.

That doesn't sound normal to me...
I suggest going to your Dr. you should already have a 6 weeks check-up scheduled make sure to mention the amount of bleeding to him/her they should be able to run some tests and help you decide if it's something to be concerned about...
As for birth-control pills they can be used for a short period of time as a hormone replacement while your body gets it self under control...
My concern with the amount of bleeding is anemia postpartum women are very prone to anemia even without heavy flow periods..

Are you doing a lot of strenuous activities or under any stress that could be what is causing it. Were the clots the size of a golf ball if so maybe you should get checked again there maybe is still some after birth there.

No, I don't think this is normal. Are you sure it's your period, it could still be lochia from having the baby. I would go to your doctor, or go to Instacare. They can prescribe you higher doses of birth control pills to help the bleeding stop and get you body back to normal so you can feel better and not get dehydrated or sick.

You are bleeding too heavily I believe. You should call your OB/GYN or go to the ER. It sounds like something is not right with your body and it's better to be safe than sorry.

No, make an appointment with your ob/gyno person as soon as possible. if you start feeling weak or faint, go to emerg. meanwhile, don't take aspirin or ibuprophen, and drink lots of fluids.
