debido hi! as a Muslim i often wonder why there is not more of an effort to share the meaning of this month.its roots lie with Abraham, who you know is integral to all our faiths.all prophets fasted and some like Jesus[pbuh] did for 40 days straight!the whole notion of someone denying for himself what is normally permitted for 30 days of sun-up to sundown is truly fascinating.and the sight of millions of people praying in unison is something to behold for sure.and as there are 5-6 million Muslims here it stands to reason there will be some exposure.

I didn't know there was a focus on Ramadan. I know a lot more about Rosh Hashana than I do about Ramadan. Maybe people already know all about Rosh Hashana. Or maybe it's because Ramadan is a whole month, whereas Rosh Hashana is only 2 days.

What are you talking about?! If you want to talk about focusing on other people's religious celebrations, then Christmas would be the clear winner. Not that I mind. I like celebrating it, even though I'm Muslim, Santa and all.

Regarding Ramadan, I've lived abroad for a time (in England to be exact) and whenever it came by, we would fast it peacefully while going normally to our jobs and schools everyday without making a big deal out of it. Most people didn't even know what Ramadan was and didn't even notice we were celebrating it.

Now what really puzzles me is what a big deal is made out of Hanukkah. I mean, how many Jewish people are in the U.S, for example, for their religious holiday to be celebrated in every single cooking show and sitcom?! Like, how many times has Ramadan been mentioned on Friends or had a Martha Stewart Ramadan foods special made about it?

Ramadan is a big deal to Muslims, and there are more Muslims than Jews -- and the fast is more rigorous and lasts longer. During Ramadan, almost nothing happes in Arabia during the day, but the stores are open until 2 AM and are busy all evening.

How about the focus on Christmas or Easter? nobody is pushing the religion to the front, Muslims live all around the world, so you are bound to hear a lot about Ramadan

Well, there are one billion Muslims in the world and something like 50 million Jews. Not that that matters, but it makes sense. Don't hear much about Zoroastrian holidays, do you?

cuz its the beginning of Ramadan and Muslims are more than Jews
Islam is the fastest growing religion so ppl start to ask about everything related to it so they ask about Ramadan .
as matter of fast non Muslims are doing good job in making ppl asking about Islam however their very bad intentions , ironic isn't it
