My personal and duty weapon when serving as a cop for my city is a Glock model 31 in .357 SIG. I also shoot on my Air Guard units pistol team - M9 otherwise known as the 92F.
I'll take the Glock any day. Far more durable, fewer moving parts, easier to maintain. There is also far more after market parts for them. You can change the springs and trigger pull if you think it is too heavy.
Problem I had with the 92F durability is that the barrels often get loose, at the muzzle end of the slide, even when in battery. This makes for some large groups and missed head shots when shoot an EIC course of fire. We can't customize these weapons in any way. We draw them right out of the armory (same one every time) and you don't know how many rounds have been put through that thing by trainees inbetween our matches.

Once again, the idiots come out of the woodwork. SIGARMS has a cartridge called the .357 SIG, which is definitely NOT .357 Magnum ... I won't even bother with the rest of the idiots. It's a good thing there are actually honest people who have put down an answer.
Questioner ... here are some concerns you need to address:
(1) Are you carrying concealed or do you want a target pistol?
(2) Are you comfortable with the lack of an external safety on the Glock?
(3) Are you firing factory ammo or reloads? Ball or HP? +P rounds?
(4) Which model of each are you talking about? Glock 17? 19? 27? Beretta 92? Tomcat? Cougar?
(5) What caliber are you thinking of? 9mm? .40? .45 ACP? .45 GAP? .357 SIG?
Once you have all these figured out, you can actually get down to choosing Glock or Beretta. Saying one or the other is better with no information is like asking people to choose between Ford and GM. I'll gladly modify my answer if you have more information to offer.
Regardless of what people tell you, go handle the weapons you're interested in and if at all possible, put a few rounds through each at a range. If you're in the United States, there are plenty of places that will rent guns out so you can test them out.
Good luck with your purchase and remember, safety comes first.

I prefer the baretta myself. It's heavier, and larger size make it less convenient than the Glock in general, but this also makes for better accuracy, and durability. Heavier weight in the firearm tends to dampen the propogation of the shockwave created when the round is fired. Also, the baretta usually has a longer muzzle. This'll also make it more accurate. There're exceptions I know. You can take a glock to a gunsmith and have a longer barrel put on, etc. I'm speakin in generalities.

Well, since you are writing in the military forum, I'm going to assume you are referring to the standard military pistol carried by officers, tankers, medics, and MP's in the military. For all these people, the weapon is intended for a close-in self defense weapon. Primary criteria should be reliability and stopping power in a weapon which can still be conveniently carried and be used by the average sized soldier. This leaves out weapons like the Desert Eagle. For stopping power, a 9mm just doesn't cut it. You have to have accurate placement of the round, something you're not likely to get in a high stress self defense situation. You need a .357 or .45. Next is reliability. You need a pistol that's loose enough not to jam from a little dirt. The most reliable is a revolver, but then you're limited to 6 shots. If you go with the Colt 1911 you are limited to 7 shots, but have rapid reload capability. Bottom line, the Colt proved itself over the years, politics gave us the Beretta. Glock did a good job of merchandising to police. SigSauer's are too expensive.

Glock's are moderately priced guns. I have shot a Glock 17 and a Beretta 92.
Think of the gun itself. The Glock and all it's safeties were designed tactically. I liked the Glock and would choose the Glock.
Also very easy to field strip, reliable, and simple.

Here's the thing. Both are well made pistols. We use Glocks at work. After a whole day of shooting the trigger pull on the Glock becomes very, very heavy. I've never run into this with the Beretta. The best way to decide is to shoot them both. Find a friend or a range that will let you use/rent each weapon and try them. If I had my personal choice and $$ wasn't an issue...I'd shoot Sig Sauer only.

OK if I had to choose between the two it would be the GLOCK 21 in .45 ACP But if I had more options it would be the good old 1911.
I have to say that natsugusa hit the nail on the head and gm or ford make mine toyota

I'll take the Glock over the Beretta anytime. IMO the Glock is far more durable and forgiving. I also have smaller hands and the Beretta is damn big. Both are fine weapons though.

I prefer the Berretta out of the two you've listed, assuming you're talking about the 92 series. I prefer a full-frame pistol, not those little plasitc pieces of crap. The Glock does not suppress recoil enough and the trigger gets heavy.
I like the SigSauer Pistols best but they are expensive, whereas you can pick up a Beretta 92 series really cheep.

I prefer the well balanced, solid feel and high capacity of a 92, but I think Glock's have a better trigger squeeze...
